Cpl. J.P. Gabb tells The News-Star Elg will remain as West Monroe's chief until January 5 and will take over as chief in Tequesta on February 4.

West Monroe Mayor Dave Norris said he would speak with members of the department and make a choice of an interim chief this week date.

Before Christmas, Elg had been considered for positions with departments in Bismarck, North Dakota, South Bend, Indiana., and Bellingham, Washington.
