Artists show off work; town shows off artists

Minden Original II Art Show has been going strong since the beginning of November with more than 150 attendees stopping by City Art Works on Main Street to see the display.

"We are so proud of these artists from Minden," said Bill Cook, director for City Art Works. "This is the second time we have had a show solely dedicated to the many artists from Minden."

Minden Originals II boasts art in several mediums, including sculpture, photography, oil and acrylic paintings.

Cook said the number of people who have shown interest in the show says something about the Minden community.

"This area supports artists," he said. "And we show visitors to the Minden area that we are a cultured community worth spending time in."

The show will continue to run until after the new year and will remain on display during a state regional manager's Main Street meeting, which will be held in Minden.

"This is a great opportunity to show other Main Streets what we offer as ideas are exchanged," Cook said.

Artists on display include Linda Lyles, Lynett Peavey, Robert Dandridge, Pat Garrison, Alma Lenear, Brenda Collums, Angela Gamble, Danna Hassell, Cora Lou Robinson, Sandra Brown, Margie Brown, Shirley Byrd, Kerry Ellington, Larry Milford, Ray Holt, Jean Mason and Joan Luck.
