Enrique Soto, James Taylor finish 1-2 for Warriors
The Lakeside Warriors successfully closed their regular Cross-Country season at the Anthill Invitation held at the Minden Rec Center. The ladies took second place while the guys easily won the men's title.
Seniors Enrique Soto and James Taylor lead the Warrior guys to victory. Soto ran away from the field speeding to a 15:40. Taylor placed second at 17:10.
Freshman Eric Greene used a good spring to take third at 17:34. Cody Robinson ran a personal best of 18:48 for an eighth place finish. Riley Smith took 12th at 19:05.
Other finishers for the Warriors were Alex Rables (14th) (19:17); Joseph Johnson (20) (19:46); Dakota Conway (28) (20:31); JR Mueller (40) (21:13); Ryan McFarland (43) (21:51); Brandon Merritt (50) (22:57); Dylan Welch (55) (24:52).
Lakeside took first place with a low score of 26 points. West Ouachita finished second (75 pts.); Claiborne Christian was third (82 pts) ; Menard fourth (103); Loyola took fifth (122 pts); and Cedar Creek placed sixth (132 pts). There were 61 runners in the field.
The Lady Warriors were led by eight-grader Alissa Landers who ran a personal best of 19:57 while finishing third over the hilly, three-mile course.
Heather Schneck also ran a personal best of 21:18 for a sixth place finish. Katelin Collier ran a 21:53 for 10th place. Kizhane Esparza took 24th at 24:28. Brooke Walker was 26th at 24:31. Nancy Silva placed 31st at 25:31. Calvary's Haily Hesterman finished first at 19:05 defeating Loyola's Kaitlain Tanner who ran 19:11.
Menard won the team title scoring 37 to Lakeside's 69. Calvary was third at 90, Loyola finished fourth at 116, Cedar Creek was fifth at 122, and Claiborne Christian took sixth at 133. There were 60 ladies participating in the race.
The next action for the Lakeside teams will be the State 2A Championship at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches on Monday, Nov. 12, with the ladies race at 1:45 and the men's race at 3:15.
