Chamber celebrates 70 years

The Minden Chamber of Commerce was born in 1942. And now, 70 years later with its reach expanded to represent all of south Webster Parish, the local chamber of commerce is gearing up for a birthday bash seven decades in the making.

Chamber officials are inviting the community to celebrate 70 years of service with a birthday party slated for Thursday, October 11 at Orleans on Main in downtown Minden.

The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 for a couple. The dress is cocktail attire. For more information on tickets, call the chamber at 377-4240.

"Since 1942, the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce has been led by some of Minden's most distinguished and successful business people," Chamber President Jerri 'de Pingre' said. "From H. O. West to Sarah Haynes, our board and its chairmen have been a positive influence to the business community. I am honored to serve as the chamber's executive and am thrilled to present this birthday party as a tribute to those individuals who have given so unselfishly and led so willingly."

Sponsors for the event include Chamber Champion MBL Bank and title sponsor Town & Country Health & Rehab/Weston Place. Other sponsorship opportunities are available by calling the Chamber. Tickets are available from Board members or at the Chamber office.
