A Sunday afternoon crash has claimed the life of a Doyline teenager.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop G reports, 15-year-old Matthew Kirkheart of Doyline was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish coronor.
Troopers were called to investigate the two-vehicle crash on La. Hwy. 164 in Bossier Parish shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1999 Dodge Caravan driven by 17-year-old Joshua Kirkheart of Doyline was traveling east on La. Hwy. 164 when, for reasons still under investigation, Kirkheart crossed the center line and struck head-on a 2006 Hyundi Elantra driven by 19-year-old Aaron Hickingbottom of Lubbock, Texas.
Both drivers sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. Their condition is unknown as of press time.
However, Matthew Kirkheart, who was a passenger in the Dodge Caravan sustained fatal injuries from the crash.
Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis as a part of routine investigation. Charges are pending.
The crash remains under investigation.
