Arrest results from bad aim

Benjamin_Woods_2A man who was aiming at ridding his yard of cats, was arrested by Minden Police Monday when his aim went awry.

Benjamin Woods, 18, of the 500 block of Patrick Street, is charged with aggravated battery when, according to Chief Steve Cropper, he accidentally shot his neighbor.

"Woods was sitting on his front porch, apparently had some cats in his vicinity and was shooting at them with an air rifle," Cropper said. "There was a guy a couple of houses down, working on his motorcycle, and Woods actually shot the guy in the neck."

Cropper said Off. Chris Henderson and Off. Shawn Jenkins made the arrest.

Woods was booked at the Minden Police Department and transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

The victim had minor injuries.

Cropper said Woods was not charged with cruelty to animals because none of his shots connected with the felines.
