Barring what Minden Mayor Bill Robertson described as "any unusual circumstances," the City of Minden should receive a Local Government Assistance Program (LGAP) grant to replace sewer mains on Woodard and Lanning streets.
City Council representatives Joe Cornelius, Benny Gray, Tommy Davis and Fayrine Kennon-Gilbert were present for a special council meeting Wednesday where they voted unanimously in favor of a resolution showing support of the submission of an application for $50,000 in order to provide new eight-inch sewer systems.
"This is a grant program we try and apply for every year," Robertson said. "We had a deadline to apply for it, which is why we called the special meeting in order to meet that deadline."
During the same special session, council members approved a resolution for Municipal Water Pollution Prevention that includes an audit report, budget provisions for system rehabilitation and operator training and certification that must be sent to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Equality.
