A late-night fire at a local law office was "obviously arson," according to Minden Fire Chief Kip Mourad.
"There were signs of 'trailing,' which when gasoline or some accelerant is poured on the ground, it leaves a trail," Mourad said. "There was a trail burn going up to the side door."
The call for a structure fire at the law office of Rick Warren, 219 Main Street, reportedly came in at 10:11 p.m. Minden firefighters were on scene at 10:14.
"It was reported real quick by a deputy sheriff who saw it and reported it," Mourad said. "We got it knocked down within 10 minutes."
A state fire marshall investigator was on the scene before firefighters left around 11:20 p.m.
"When he arrived, he took over the investigation," Mourad said.
The fire was reportedly contained to the inside walls in two rooms and damage was light to moderate, said the chief.
"The fire got into the wall and got up into the subfloor of the second floor," Mourad said. "We had to make sure the fire didn't go horizontal into the subfloor and spread."
The fire remains under investigation.
