Lady Apaches improve record to 4-1
The Glenbrook Lady Apaches improved to 4-1 with a pair of wins this week. Saturday, they defeated Riverdale, 11-7 and then on Monday, they beat Cenla in their first district game, 9-2.
"The girls played really well," Lady Apache head coach Jonathan Hardy said. "We play again today at 5 p.m. at Riverdale and then we'll host Claiborne on Thursday."
Thursday's games begin at 4:30 p.m. with a junior varsity game with the varsity game to follow.
Lucille Dayton (2-1) got the win in Monday's victory over Cenla. She went all six innings and struck out nine batters.
Graycn Gorman had a big day a the plate, as she ripped a single and an inside-the-park home run. Sunni Wilson had a three-run double and Shelby Nicholas had a RBI-triple. Leanna Cooper and Melody Hanson both had two singles, and Carsin Spurlock had a RBI-double. Katie Kidd and Jessica Mangrum both singled.
In Saturday's win, Sunni Wilson led the way for the Lady Apaches, as she went two-for-five with a single, home run and five RBIs. Graycn Gorman had two hits and a RBI and Melody Hanson had two singles and a run batted in. Shelby Nicholas and Jessica Mangrum both had RBI-singles and Leanna Cooper and Macie Branch added base hits.
In addition to today and Thursday's games, the lady Apaches will play in the Prairie View Academy Tournament in Bastrop on Saturday. Their first game will be against Tensas at 10:40 a.m. at PVA.
