Minden High hits the practice field

The Minden Crimson Tide football team is hard at work preparing for the 2012 season.

The Tide stepped back onto the practice field last week, and head coach Randy Peters likes what he's seen from his team so far.

"The kids have been responding, working hard," he said. "These guys are determined to repeat as district champions, and go farther in the playoffs. It's early and we have a lot of work to do, but I like our start."

Peters said his team has put in the time this summer and isn't afraid of a little hard work.

"We're the B.C. Crew," he said. "The blue collar workers because that's our mentality. Our kids bring their lunch pail to work with them. We're just being focused on getting better every day and eliminating bad football plays and work as a team. We have to believe in ourselves and just take care of business."

The Tide will ramp up practices later this week, when they go to full pads as they get ready for their Jam at the Joe date with the Ruston Bearcats on August 25.

"I'm looking forward to playing Ruston at the Jam again," Peters said. "That's how we started playing in this and I'm glad it's come back around. It will gives us an idea of where we are, but we really won't find out until the Friday Night Lights come on."

Tickets for the Jam at the Joe are available at the Ruston-Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau (255-2530), as well as all of the participating schools.
