Deputies aid police in arresting suspect
Webster Parish Sheriff's deputies gave Minden Police a hand last week in bringing in a man who possibly put a child's life in danger.
Dontavis Washington, 24, of the 100 block of Stanley Street, Dixie Inn, has been charged with two counts of resisting an officer and home invasion.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said around 10 p.m. July 7, one of his officers was conducting a traffic stop when the passenger of the vehicle exited and ran.
"The officer pursued the subject on foot, requesting him to stop," Cropper said. "The subject ran into the back door of a residence on Pine Street where a 10-year-old juvenile was present.
"Washington confronted the juvenile, demanding a phone," Cropper continued. "Then he grabbed a phone from the juvenile, calling a second subject to pick him up on Pine Street."
Ofc. Justin Kemp and Ofc. Bryan King, along with Sgt. Wayne Young reportedly searched for the suspect throughout the night, unable to locate him.
He was identified as Washington, and Minden Police obtained an arrest warrant.
According to reports, on July 11, Webster Parish Sheriff's deputies Bobby Igo, III and Joel Thomas located Washington at a residence in Dixie Inn, placed him under arrest and took him to the Minden Police Department.
He is currently incarcerated at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center under bonds totaling $60,000.
A hold has been placed on Washington as a fugitive from Bossier Parish.
