Creative Writing Classes set for Minden City Art Works

Minden City Art Works is offering ten Creative Writing courses taught by Angel Haney.

The classes will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday nights beginning July 3 and lasting until August 7.

Haney is an award winning writer with an Associate's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from BPCC and a BA in Journalism from LSU-S. She has written for the Shreveport Times, the Minden Press-Herald and The Daily Iberian.

She has been published in numerous magazines and online. She has taught creative writing at Minden Summer Arts Camp for two years and is in the process of publishing her first children's book.

There is a $10 charge per person per class. Classes will be held at Minden City Art Works, 701 Main Street. The classes are open for people 12 years of age and older. Interested persons are asked to call ahead to register as there are only 20 spots available for each class. A folder to hold work will be made available, but students need to bring a notebook and writing utensil. Interested persons may choose which classes they wish to attend, or can attend all ten.

July 3: Introduction to Creative Writing

July 5: Article and Feature writing

July 10: Free Form and Journaling

July 12: Character Development/Character Stories

July 17: Script Writing

July 24: Flash and Fan Fiction

July 26: Poetry/Songs

July 31: Essays

August 2: Short Stories

August 7: Short Stories, cont'd.
