Additional items from Monday’s Webster School Board meeting

In addition to the items covered in Tuesday's Press-Herald story, the Webster Parish School Board took action on the following items during Monday's meeting:

Authorized the purchase of a second Driver Education car (1998 Ford Taurus at $5,613) possible to be purchased entirely through Driver Education generated funds.

Approved extension of Storer contract at $284,255 using general funds.

Approved change order #4 on Doyline classroom building project. Project adds a total amount of $14,553 due to additional cost. To install access panel, change towel dispenser mounting and add magnetic hold open extensions, per Fire Marshall review, add $728; to install new building electrical service per Entergy's requirements, add $8985; cost to add electrical circuits for condensing units, add $4,840. Funds to come from Doyline Building Fund.

Approved change order #1 on Central Elementary HVAC alterations. Project adds a total amount of $11,343 due to additional cost. To remove and replace asphalt area behind the buildings per item #1 at a cost of $5,552; the cost to remove inoperable heaters and repair walls and ceilings at a cost of $4,095; the cost to remove and replace damaged concrete walks at the back of the building at a cost of $1,696. Funds to come form Consolidated District 3 Maintenance Fund.

Granted permission to spend $7,176 of Minden School Building Fund for Daren Bailey, Inc. Construction to install ceiling mounted exhaust fans in restrooms 101, 102, 104 and 105 at Harper Elementary.

Approved the Agreement Form for the use of WP facilities by outside organizations/communities.

Approved the purchase of an Ex-Mark commercial grade lawn mower at the price of $7,162 for Lakeside High School using District #3 Maintenance Funds. (Two non-operational mowers are being traded in to help reduce the cost to this amount.)

Approved change order #1 for J.L. Jones electrical upgrades at a cost of $3,650. This will provide lighting that can be turned off in the front of the classroom and left on in the back thus benefiting technology exhibits.

Approved the addition of July 5, 2012 to the calendar as a holiday for school staff (Wednesday is July 4 with Thursday being the last day of the work week).
