Principal, coach decisions expected tonight

Three Webster Parish School Board (WPSB) job openings will be addressed Monday night during the WPSB meeting.

Board members will vote to approve the selection of a head football coach/teacher for North Webster High School and a principal for North Webster Jr. High School. The board will also vote to grant permission to advertise for the executive secretary position in the wake of the retirement of Elizabeth Brewer after 46 years of employment.

Also to be considered and approved are changes for several policies in the Title I department.

The Title I policy changes requested by Yolanda Palmer, Title I Director of WP Schools, include the WP Parental Involvement in Education Policy, WP Homeless Policies and Procedures with District Dispute and Resolution Process Policy, the WP Grievance Policy for Public and Non Public Schools and WP Policy for Homeless Students.

Also on the agenda is a request by Elementary Supervisor Connie Busby to change the parish STEM program to an HONORS program, which will include seven other changes such as removing the behavior component of the contract to follow school wide behavior procedures and remove the attendance component and follow attendance/truancy procedures.

The agenda also includes a request to grant permission to change all high school counselors from nine months to 10 months (testing data/student schedules/placement needed).

Other items to be addressed on the agenda are:

Approve new bid prices for milk products, bread and frozen dairy for the 2012-13 school year.

Approve the purchase of magnetic, dry erase boards for all classrooms at J.A. Phillips Middle School in the amount of $11,302 using Minden School Building Fund.

Authorize the purchase of a second Driver Education car (1998 Ford Taurus at $5,613) possible to be purchased entirely through Driver Education generated funds.

Approve extension of Storer contract at $284,255 using general funds.

Approve change order #4 on Doyline classroom building project.
