Term limits up to voters

Long-term school board members may be leaving posts

Webster Parish voters and voters across Louisiana will have the opportunity this fall to decide if they want to enact term limits on their local school board members.

A proposal by Ponchatoula Rep. Steve Pugh requiring the term limit question to appear on the November 6 ballot was sent to the Governor for executive approval on May 24.

If approved in a parish, local school board members would be limited to three consecutive four-year terms, like state lawmakers.
