Chamber Busy with Events in Coming Weeks

Welcome to "Chamber Chatter" the new monthly column of the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce.

This column will appear on the fourth Friday each month and will serve as a means of keeping the community informed of chamber activities. As I am new to this position, I'll start at the beginning.

The Board of Directors led by Chairman Sarah Haynes, hired me on April 2nd. Since that time, we have conducted Ribbon Cutting ceremonies at Laura Horton's new State Farm Insurance agency, Olivia's Beauty & Supply, and Habacu's Mexican Restaurant where we also celebrated Cinco de Mayo.

On the second Tuesday of every month, the Chamber sponsors an After Hours event. The After Hours are hosted by a different Chamber member each month. These events are not only for chamber members, but also for the community as a whole. The host business welcomes the opportunity to showcase their establishment for EVERYONE not just Chamber members.

The regular time for After Hours is 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; though end times are flexible. Our next After Hours will be hosted by the Minden Tennis & Aquatic Club on Tuesday, June 12 from 5 until 6 in the evening. Make plans to come and enjoy food, door prizes, and an opportunity to visit with Minden's citizens.

"Community Caravan" is coming back to Minden on Thursday, June 14. Channel 3 will broadcast live from El Jimador starting at noon. We are excited to have the KTBS news crew back in Minden and want to invite everyone to come out, have lunch and be on television. Let's show Channel 3 and its viewing audience why Minden is so GREAT!

The Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with Chesapeake Oil will be hosting a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) seminar later this summer.

This important event will be held at the Civic Center in Minden at noon on a date to be set later this summer. Literally thousands of chamber members, municipalities, elected officials, parish governments, individuals and businesses will be invited via email to attend. Anyone interested may call the Chamber and we will put you on the invitation list. A complimentary lunch will be served to all registered attendees beginning at 11:30. The seminar will end promptly at 1:00. Stay tuned for further details about this exciting program and other activities sponsored by your Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce!!

Jerri de Pingre' is president of the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce.
