Annual city-wide clean-up on tap

In conjunction with Minden's city-wide clean-up, trash bins will be available at the City of Minden Street Department headquarters located at 341 Methodist Camp Road for the disposal of white goods and tires beginning today.

"White goods are appliances, water heaters, air conditioners and other items of the same nature," said Councilwoman Magaline Quarles. "It does not include machinery, lawn mowers or porcelain bathroom fixtures."

The following information must be provided, according to the Department of Environmental Quality, before any tires will be accepted: name, address and current Louisiana driver's license.

The bins will be in place beginning today (Thursday, May 24) through Monday, June 4 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

"Please be sure to place all items inside the bins and keep the area surrounding the bins clean," Quarles said.

Allied Waste will run regular routes for other curbside trash/yard debris. No white goods or tires will be picked up at curbside. Be sure to place curbside trash at your residence and not beside empty lots.

No paint will be accepted or picked up by Allied Waste.
