Man jailed for actions with teen

Gregory_BookerA 22-year-old Minden man has been arrested for having inappropriate relations with his 14-year-old girlfriend.

Gregory Booker, of the 600 block of Marion Street, was charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile after his girlfriend's father learned about their relationship and reported it to Minden Police.

Chief Steve Cropper said the case began early in May with Dixie Inn Police Chief Jim Edwards.

"Once Chief Edwards started working the case, he was informed that all activity between the adult and juvenile had taken place inside the Minden city limits," Cropper said. "He came to us and we turned the case over to Det. Heath Balkom who began an investigation."

Balkom reportedly contacted the juvenile's mother who indicated the father heard a rumor that their teen-age daughter may be pregnant.

"Det. Balkom found out the daughter was seeing a 22-year-old," Cropper said. "The mother and daughter came to the police department, where the juvenile admitted she had a sexual relationship with Booker that started a couple of months ago."

The victim also allegedly said she received text messages of a sexual nature on her phone from Booker.

"A warrant was obtained, and Booker was arrested May 15," Cropper said. "During an interview at the P.D., Booker admitted to having sexual relations with the juvenile one time, and one time only."

Reports said Booker also admitted to sending a text message with sexual content to the girl.

Booker was booked at the Minden Police Department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
