Lois ‘Jennie’ Gandy

gandy_obit_photoFuneral services will be held for Lois "Jennie" Gandy (Nanny) at First Presbyterian Church in Athens, on Saturday May 19, 2012 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Tulip Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today (Friday) from 5 until 8 p.m.

Mrs. Gandy was born July 1, 1941 to Claude and Myrtle French. She entered into rest Wednesday May 16, 2012 at her home after a long courageous battle with Leukemia. Mrs. Gandy was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Athens. She was a dedicated nurse for many years. She worked at the Deas and Black Clinic for several years and ended her career working for two pediatricians, Dr. Elizabeth Phillips and then Dr. Melinda Willis. She loved all the babies she took care of.

Mrs. Gandy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leon French.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Harry M. Gandy; three children, Ricky and wife, Becky, Jeff and wife, Larraine and Ginger Austin and fiancé Don Ferguson; five grandchildren, Candice Gandy, Nancy Blanchard and husband, Chey, Taylor Gandy, Bailey Austin and Teal Austin; and four step-grandchildren, Carey Adams and wife, Jeri, T.J. Adams and wife, Christy, Christy Gray and husband, Kevin and Aarin Mitchell and husband, Braxton; and numerous great-grandchildren. She also survived by a sister, Lillian Aust and husband, James; a brother-in-law, Richard Gandy and wife, Linda. Mrs. Gandy has a host of family and Friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Baylor Cancer Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Dr. Joyce Feagin, Dr. Melinda Willis, Dr. Scott and Elizabeth Phillips, Dr. Michael Pistorius and the staff of the Minden Medical Center.
