Area youth will have an opportunity to creatively express themselves on canvas this summer at an art camp sponsored by Minden City Art Works.
According to Jeanne Mason, camp director and area artist, the theme of the camp is "Express Yourself" and is open to children ages six to 15 years.
"We want to spark creativity in each child," said Mason. "We are planning a lot of fun."
Local artists Larry Milford, McKenzie Leopold, Rebecca Tyree, Angel Haney and Bill Cook will join Mason as the art camp staff.
The camp is free but enrollment is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration deadline is Monday, May 21 at 4 p.m.
The camp will be divided into three sessions with the first session for children ages six, seven and eight to be held June 4 through 8 from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. each day.
Session two will be held June 11 through 15 from 1 until 5 p.m. for children ages nine through 11.
The final session is set aside for those children ages 12 to 15 and will be held June 18 through 22 from 1 until 5 p.m.
Registration forms are available at Minden City Hall, 520 Broadway or at City Art Works, 701 Main Street. City Art Works is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
