"But they that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Patrick Shane Bowman, 27, went home to the Lord on Saturday, April 28, 2012. He spent the last two weeks of his life at University of Texas Southwestern, St Paul Hospital bravely fighting an undiagnosed lung disease.

Patrick was the only child of Chris and Patti Bowman, born in Minden on April 17, 1985. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church.

Upon moving to Tyler, he attended Clarkston Elementary School. As a young boy he participated in soccer and baseball, but his true love was Boy Scouts at Green Acres Baptist Church Troop 370.

He continued Scouting through Grace Middle School and Robert E. Lee High School. There he participated for four years in the Robert E. Lee marching band. His scouting career carried him across America with his Dad. He participated in two National Boy Scout Jamborees with his Mom and Dad. Patrick and his Dad had a wonderful adventure at Philmont Scouting Ranch, which they still talked about often. He was awarded the Order of the Arrow and received his Vigil Honor. Patrick earned his Eagle in October 2001, at the age of 16.

He graduated from U. T. Tyler in 2007 and had just accepted a job with Halliburton in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Patrick's personality blessed him with countless friends of all ages. He had a personality that drew people to him, always loving and caring for those who needed a friend.

Patrick is survived by an extremely close family, parents, Chris and Patti Bowman; grandparents, Bonnie and Clyde Freeman; aunt and uncle, Joe and Phyllis Ford; aunt, Linda Jordan; and his two cousins, Jennifer Ford and Adam Jordan with whom he had a very special relationship.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Eugene and Wanda Bowman.

Patrick's love of life touched so many people; his spirit of volunteering in our community led him to help countless people.

He will be forever missed by so many family, friends and our loving neighbors that he grew up with, but his legacy will live on in the people who called him "Best Friend."

Pallbearers will be Wesley Hanover, John Soloman, Brent Davis, Kevin Guillot, Matt Peace, Matt Christian, Adam Jordan, Adam Lesmeister, Sam Hanover and Jonathan Peace.

However, our whole community will be carrying the weight of his loss.

We would like to thank our many close family and friends that have been ever present by our sides over the last few weeks. We could not have survived without their love and prayers.

We would also like to send our love and appreciation to Dr. Sean Troxclair and Dr. Corey Kershaw, Respiratory Therapists Lonnie and Maria, who, along with Mother Frances Hospital and U. T. Southwestern St. Paul fought so vigilantly to save our Patrick.

Memorials may be made to the Patrick Bowman Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship at Southside Bank in Tyler, 6201 S. Broadway, Tyler, 75703, attention to Jack Peppard.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Green Acres Baptist Church chapel with the Rev. Wes M. Bynum officiating. Burial is in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home, Tyler.
