Members of the Minden City Council approved a resolution in special session Monday that will allow the city to apply for a walking trail grant.
Minden Mayor Bill Robertson said, if granted, Victory Park will be the site of the new trail.
"We know monies are available for these kinds of things," Robertson said. "We think it would be good to have a trail for people to walk on at one of the parks."
City Economic Development Director Pattie Odom said the city will apply for the maximum amount – $100,000.
"It is a Recreational Trails Program for the state from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration," Odom said. "It is administered for the state by the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism."
Robertson warned, however, there is no guarantee the city will receive the funds.
