Pastor Lenward Brown, Sr., 81, passed away on April 9, 2012. His family was by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord.

He was born to the late Leslie "Jack" and Lula Bell Morgan Brown of Heflin on July 13, 1930. He was highly esteemed as a husband, father, grandfather and, most importantly, a true man of God.

He served as God's shepherd at Tillman Church of God in Christ for nine years. He could accomplish anything the Lord set his mind to do during his pastorship. He was a great leader for the local church and a superb supporter of Trinity District Church of God in Christ and First Jurisdiction of Louisiana. He was not only a soldier in God's army, but he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era from 1951-1953.

Pastor Brown married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart Nadine Henderson Brown on Oct. 7, 1951. To this 60-year union, 13 children were born.

He was employed at KCS Railroad, Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant, Webster Parish Community Services and other various jobs during his lifetime. His interests were fishing, hunting and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five children. He leaves to cherish his memories his lovely wife, Nadine Brown; eight children, Samuel Brown (Felecia) of Heflin, Juanita Montgomery (Roy) of Heflin, Arnedia McKinsey (Benny) of Dubberly, Marilyn Wallace of Heflin, Lenward Brown, Jr. (Brinda) of Heflin, Sharon Wallace (Kenneth) of Dubberly, Kathy Murphy (Anthony) of Shreveport, and Kenneth Brown of Heflin; 40 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; Frederick Ford, Sr. (brother-in-law); Irene Harding (sister-in-law); and a host of relatives and friends.
