Two busted for drugs on wheels

burnsRankinTwo north Webster Parish men are in trouble with the law for selling drugs out of their vehicle.

Antavius Jeroid Rankin (Tay-Pooh), 24, of the 1100 block of 6th Street SW, Springhill and Derrick Burns (DB), 30, of Camelot Apartments, Springhill are charged with possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana) with intent to distribute.

Webster Parish Sheriff's Lt. Shawn Baker said he received three telephone calls from concerned citizens who had knowledge of the two men selling narcotics from a blue vehicle parked on Douglas Street.

Baker, Sgt. William Frazier and Officer 1st Class Andrew Rolen with Springhill Police investigated and made contact with the two occupants of the vehicle – Rankin and Burns.

"I noticed a third subject flee the scene from the side of a residence," Baker said. "Sgt. Frazier made contact with Burns, and I observed Rankin remove a plastic package and put it in a boot on the porch."

Baker removed the plastic bag and found 10 wrapped bags of marijuana.

"The vehicle was searched and an additional large bag of marijuana was located under the seat.

Rankin and Burns have prior distribution charges and were on probation when arrested.

According to Probation and Parole agents, parole has been revoked, and they remain incarcerated at BDCC.
