Kathryn Jean Fincher Moore, a native of Minden, died Monday, April 2, 2012 in Houston, Texas at the age of 87. The daughter of Thomas Roy and Myrtice Rother Fincher, she married Gilbert Frank Moore of Wilmington, Delaware in 1947.

Her husband's career in the petroleum business took them to many locations from Boston to Brownsville, Texas. For many years, they lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma where Jean was active in St. John's Episcopal Church. She was an avid reader and she delighted in oil painting and serving in her church.

Jean will be remembered for her ready smile and laugh, her compassion, her loyalty to friends, her willingness to listen and openness to talk, and her love of family and the Lord.

Her three surviving grandchildren include Megan Moore Peykoff of Laguna Beach, California as well as Laura Kathryn Moore and William Marcus Moore of The Woodlands, Texas. She has one great-grand-daughter, Peyton Marie Peykoff of Laguna Beach.

Committal of ashes will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery on May 5, 2012 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
