BENTON —The Minden Crimson Tide were down by six runs heading into the top of the seventh against Benton on Saturday, but then scored six runs to rally back to a 9-8 district win.
The Tide trailed 8-3 heading into the seventh. After an out, Tyler Zachary walked and Derek Herrington doubled to put runners on second and third. Sam Shoemaker was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Turner Francis drew a walk to force in a run.
After another out, McCaul Lacobee walked forcing in another run and then Carson Bolyer’s hard-hit ball was mishandle by the Benton shortstop, allowing another run to score. With the score, 8-6, Javieon Johnson clubbed a bases-loaded triple to cap the rally, scoring all three runners to give the Tide the lead, and eventually the win.
The Tide took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, and then fell behind 4-1 in the second and trailed the rest of the way until Johnson’s triple.
Herrington started and pitched well for Minden before tiring. Carson Bolyer came on in relief to get the win. Bailey Pettit closed out the game for the win.
