Ruston bats prove too much for Minden pitching
The Minden Crimson Tide hosted the Ruston Bearcats Tuesday, losing by a final score of 18-3.
Ruston's bats battered the Tide pitching staff for 18 hits, including two home runs and six doubles.
Minden led 1-0 going into the top of the third inning, when the Bearcats scored four runs. Ruston added a pair of runs in the fourth, and then scored five in the fifth and seven in the sixth. The Tide added single runs in fourth and sixth innings.
Bailey Pettit, the first of three Minden pitchers, took the loss.
Derek Herrington was a bright spot at the plate for the Tide, as he went three-for-three with two singles and a double. McCaul Lacobee doubled and singled and Sam Shoemaker and Hutton Leppert both doubled. Tyler Zachary and Tanner McBroom added singles.
The Crimson Tide will open their district schedule this Saturday afternoon, when they play a 1 p.m. game at Northwood.
