Apache All-District players named

The Glenbrook Apache basketball team finished one game short of a MAIS Class A Championship this season, and six of those players, and their head coach, were recently honored by their district with spots on the District 7A All-District teams.

Zach Specht, Cade Spurlock, Terez "Mookie" Mack, Wesley Hicks, Caydan Maloney and Devin James were named to the list along with head coach Chris Kourvelas who was named Coach of the Year.

"Each of the young men who were selected to All-District deserve it 100 times over," Kourvelas said. "They worked so hard this season, they were put through many hours of hard, physically and mentally tough and demanding practices, but it all paid off for them both as individuals and as a team."

Here's a look at the Apache All-District players:

Zach Specht, All-District

"Zach was our district MVP, and a South A All-Star Team member," Kourvelas said. "I am so proud of him that he was the MVP of our district and was able to represent not only our district, but our school, our team and our community at the All-Star Game."

Specht averaged 17 points and 13 rebounds per game.

Wesley Hicks, All District

"Wesley averaged 11.2 points and, 11 rebounds per game," Kourvelas said. "He's a senior and we hate to see him go."

Cade Spurlock, All-District

"Cade dropped in 12.7 points and 3.1 assist per game," Kourvelas said. "He also grabbed 7.2 rebounds per game. I'm glad we have Cade back next season. Look for him to be a potential MVP candidate for next season."

Terez "Mookie" Mack, All-District

"Mookie averaged 10.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 4.6 TO created per game," Kourvelas said. "We're glad we have Mookie back next season as well. A true point guard, look for him to continue to grow, mature and develop into a wonderful player."

Caydan Maloney, Honorable Mention

"Caydan came right out of football and not having played basketball in a few years," Kourvelas said. "He really improved over the season, everything with him improved, his attitude, his footwork, his rebounding technique, everything. I am so proud of this young man."

Devin James, Honorable Mention

"Devin is another one we are happy to have returning next year," Kourvelas said. "We look to have a very strong front court and great defensive pressure with Devin, Cade and Mookie together."
