Speeder bagged with weed

Antonio_OnealA routine traffic stop turned into a felony drug arrest for a Minden man and local police.

Antonio Oneal, 35, of the 1100 block of Linden Street, is charged with felony possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana), speeding and improper signal.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Ryan Barnette and Officer Clint Smith observed a blue pick-up truck traveling at a high rate of speed.

"The truck made a left-hand turn on Mignon Street," Cropper said, "and after observing numerous traffic violations, a traffic stop was made."

Cropper said the officers noticed Oneal acting "very nervous."

"Sgt. Barnette asked the driver, (Oneal) if he had anything illegal on his person," said the chief. "Oneal told officers he had some marijuana in his pocket."

Cropper said a prior possession conviction made this one a felony arrest.

Oneal was booked at the Minden Police Department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
