Richard Wayne Johnson

R_Johnson_ObitRichard Wayne Johnson, 58, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2012 in Shreveport. A memorial service honoring him will be held at First United Methodist Church in Minden on Friday, March 16 at 2 p.m.

Richard was born in Homer on March 26, 1953 and he attended school in Haynesville through the 9th grade. Richard graduated from Arcadia High School in 1971.

At an early age Richard discovered a passion for music. After graduating from high school he pursued a musical performing and recording career. His brother Don played drums while Richard performed lead guitar and vocals for their band "Home Cookin" in the 1970's. In 1980 Richard joined J.C. Johnson Ford in Minden. He ended his career there in 2010 as General Manager. Throughout his 30-year business career he continued to perform music with notable bands such as The Harmon Drew Band, The Johnson Brothers Band, and the G.G. Shinn Band.

Richard was dearly loved by all who knew him. He was a kind man and held a steadfast love for his family. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Chris Cochrane, of Brinkley, Arkansas.

He is survived by his mother, Annie Laura Johnson, and father, J. C. Johnson of Minden; brother, Don Johnson of Bossier City; nephews, Kyle Johnson of Bossier City and Dylan Johnson of Dallas; daughter, Lauren Johnson Mitchell and son-in-law, John Mitchell of Lafayette; son, Heath Johnson; daughter-in-law, Amy Johnson; and granddaughters, Lila Claire and Elizabeth Mae Johnson of Dallas, Texas.
