Funeral services for Coy Bohannon were held today (Monday, Feb. 27, 2012) at 10 a.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating were the Rev. Jimmy West and the Rev. Steve Petty. Interment followed at Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville. The family received friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Coy was born Feb. 27, 1934 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas and entered into rest Feb. 23, 2012 in Minden.
He retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Company after 38 years of service and was a member of Baptist Tabernacle Church in Sibley. Coy was a well-known musician throughout the Ark-La-Tex and played many years at Louisiana Hayride in Homer. Playing music was his passion in life.
He married Mary Winn Feb. 17, 1967 and they had two children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Sue Bohannon and sisters, Geraldine Dyer and Tressie Deloney.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Bohannon of Minden; son, Phillip Bohannon of Shreveport; daughter, Angela Bohannon of Bossier City; brothers, Bill Bohannon of Georgia and James Bohannon and wife, Marie of New Mexico; and grandchildren, Raven Bohannon and Devodrick Seamster.
Pallbearers were Ken Racca, Jerry White, Whit Perry, Huey Seymour, James McKenzie and Jason McKenzie.
