Harvey Milner, Jr.

Harvery_Milner1Harvey Milner, Jr. (also known as Junior, June, Junior Boy) was born Sept. 29, 1935, in Claiborne Parish to the late Deacon Harvey Milner, Sr., and Ada Graham Milner. He was the second of seven children.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Taylor where the Rev. J.H. Dixon, Jr. was pastor.

Harvey graduated from Coleman High School in 1955, and soon afterward moved to Shreveport. He married Nettie V. Howard and to this union three children were born, Ronnie, Karen and Cedric.

He was employed as a truck driver for Knighton Produce Company (later known as Ben E. Keith) for 42 years.

Harvey departed this earthly life at the age of 76 on Feb. 18, 2012 in Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Harvey and Ada Milner; daughter, Pamela Tyner; great-granddaughter, La'Karia Ashley; and two sisters, Sharon Milner Moss and Barbara Milner Lathon.

Harvey will forever be loved and his memories cherished by family and friends, especially his five children, Ronnie Milner of Taylor, Karen Milner Ashley of Michigan City, Indiana, Cedric Milner (Toya ) of San Diego, California, Tyrone Tyner of Kansas City, Kansas, Toya Tyner Hunter of Kansas City, Kansas; special friend, Geneva Brown of Shreveport; adopted children, Jeanene Washington of Shreveport, Kim Bolden Davis (Steven) of San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four adopted grandchildren; two brothers, Hurvie (Josette) Milner of Gardena, California and Purvis (Betty) Milner of Shreveport; two sisters, Effie Hubbard of Houston, Texas and Audy (Ronald) Ryes of New Orleans; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Taylor/Ada, with the Rev. Donald Russell, officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today (Friday, February 24) in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. Email condolences may be sent to kennonsmortuary@suddenlink.net.
