Funeral services for Mrs. Edith "Miss Jimmie" McDaniel Byram, 102, will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at 9 a.m. in New Sarepta Baptist Church with the Rev. Marty Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery, Shreveport under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 6 until 8 p.m.
"Miss Jimmie" was born August 30, 1909 in Oakfuskey, Oklahoma to Maude Lepolian and Louana Stinger McDaniel and passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 in Minden. She moved to Sarepta in 1985, was a faithful member of New Sarepta Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She is survived by daughter, Jeane Newsom and husband, Harold of Sarepta; sons, D.P. "Paul" Byram and wife, Nancy of Boerge, Texas and E.J. "Jerry" Byram and wife, Emily of Waco, Texas; daughter-in-law, Ann Byram of Doyline; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
"Miss Jimmie" was preceded in death by her husband, John David Byram, Sept. 13, 1985; son, Phillip Ray Byram; and granddaughter, Sherry Newsom.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Newsom, Stanley Newsom, George McKinney, Danny Byram, David Hammon and Andy Pickens.
