The Rev. Everett was born August 2, 1926 in Spearsville to Henry and Lillie Everett and passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 in Shreveport.
He was a resident of Springhill where he served as pastor of Central Baptist Church from 1969-1984 and Pastor Emeritus in 1990. The Rev. Everett was also pastor of First Baptist Church, Iredell, Texas; Ebenezer Baptist Church of El Dorado, Arkansas and Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Crossett, Arkansas. He was Director of Missions for Louisiana Baptist Convention, serving in northwest Louisiana until retirement.
The Rev. Everett graduated from Spearsville High School; received his B.S. in Vocational Agriculture from Louisiana Tech University and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary.
A member of "the Greatest Generation," Kenneth served in the European Theater of World War II. He returned to his beautiful bride to begin a family that grew in number and gratitude for his example of sacrifices, humor and unconditional love.
He led his congregations faithfully and was considered a "Pastor to the Pastors" while ministering as Director of Missions. He inspired his sons as well as countless other "sons and daughters in the faith" to follow his footsteps into vocational Christian service. With "Mama Ruth" by his side, he cultivated a legacy giving his grandchildren the opportunity to reach their potential. He humbly and good naturedly deflected praise toward Christ who he trusted as Lord and Savior.
He was a good man who served a great God!
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Helen Upshaw Everett; daughter, Janie Schroeder and husband, Dave of Allen, Texas; sons, Randel Everett and wife, Sheila of Midland, Texas; Neil Everett and wife, Debbie of Calhoun; Tim Everett and wife, Julie of Springhill and Tommy Everett and wife, Kim of Genoa, Arkansas.
