Jan Shastan Burns, 36, was born August 13, 1975 in Minden to the late Willie Clyde Burns and Louidell Johnson Burns.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with East Mount Olive Baptist Church at an early age. Jan served her church until her health prevented regular attendance.
Jan was an honorary member of Minden High School Class of 1994, a graduate of the Class of 1995 and was continuing her educational pursuits at Bossier Parish Community College.
Jan Burns departed this earthly life on January 19 in Minden.
Her legacy will live on through her fiancé, Chad Brooks; her little lady, Chardonnay Brooks; her siblings, Carolyn (Kenneth) Cosby and Brian (Tammy) Burns; nephews, Brandon Flournoy and McCameron Kinsey; aunts, Lettie J. Bradford, Odessa J. Frazier, Adell Johnson, Betty J. Burns and Dorothy B. Henderson; uncles, Leslie J. Johnson (Helen), Cleotha Johnson, S.J. Johnson and McClinton Johnson (Mary); special cousin, DeQuinton Harrison; god children, Kadarius Walker, Sierra and Brittany Lofton; special friends, Tonia M. Stanley, Candice Cosby, Chiquita Lofton, Julia Walker, Becky Murphy, Tena Trepkah, Candy Horner, Marlo Tells and Jimmy Penton Jr.; and many other close and dear friends and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28 at 11 a.m. at the 14th District Building with the Rev. Roderick Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held today (Friday, January 27) in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
