Henry 'Smokie' Allen

Henry_Allen2Henry "Smokie" Allen, 70, was born Dec. 31, 1941 in Claiborne Parish to the late Henry, Sr. and Rosie B. Allen.

Henry attended Webster High School. He later joined the United States Armed Forces and served in the U.S. Army for four years from which he was honorably discharged.

"Smokie" was employed at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant until he retired.

Henry joined St. Rest Baptist Church.

He departed this earthly life on Jan. 13, 2012 in Minden.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, and a brother, Joe Pat Allen.

He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Keith Minix of Minden; brothers, Roy L. Gilbert (Lula Mae) and James Allen, both of Minden; one sister, Annie Lee Allen of Longview, Texas; four grandchildren, Shaeylish Minix, Keimira Minix, Elizabeth Minix and Keith Minix, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21 at 3 p.m. at St. Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. B. J. Martin, officiating. Interment will follow at New Zion B.C. Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 20 in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
