Friday the 13th proved to be an unlucky day to take a stroll for a Minden man who was wanted by the law.
Derrick Kemp, 31, of the 100 block of Cox Lane, was arrested by Minden Police and charged with possession of CDS Sch. II (crack cocaine), as well as parole violation.
Police Chief Steve Cropper said Lt. Dan Weaver, Capt. Marvin Garrett and detectives Sgt. Heath Balkom and Sgt. Chris Cheatham observed Kemp walking on Cox Lane Friday.
"The officers knew Kemp had an outstanding warrant for his arrest through the Minden Probation and Parole office," Cropper said. "They made contact with Kemp. He was advised of his rights and placed under arrest."
But, according to Cropper, things really became interesting when officers conducted a pat-down.
"They found a cigarette pack in his left jacket pocket and inside that packet contained two rocks of suspected crack cocaine," Cropper said. "So, Mr. Kemp was arrested on a parole violation warrant and possession of the drugs."
