Funeral services for Jimmie Mizell Holtzclaw, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at Unity Baptist Church with Brother Cecil Marr officiating, assisted by Brother Scotty Guillot. Burial will be in Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., Springhill.
Mrs. Holtzclaw, a lifelong resident of this area, died Saturday evening, Jan. 14, 2012 in Bossier City. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church and was a retired teacher with 20 years of service with the Webster Parish School System. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Holtzclaw and parents, Moses P. Mizell and Irene B. Mizell.
She is survived by her children, Mike Holtzclaw, Lisa H. Thrash and her husband, Rodney, all of Cotton Valley and Chris Holtzclaw and his wife, Charlotte, of Jennings; brothers, Albert J. Mizell and wife, Mary, of Shreveport, the Rev. Larry P. Mizell and wife, Katherine, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Billy H. Mizell of Riverside, California and Jerry A. Mizell and wife, Yuliya, of Farmerville; brother-in-law, James "Tootum" Holtzclaw and wife, Rebecca, of Cotton Valley; grandchildren, Brandon Holtzclaw and wife, Holly, Tony Holtzclaw and wife, Jessie, Jennifer Perryman and husband, Justin, Jessica Windham, Jordan Dabel and husband, James, Brady Holtzclaw and wife, Jennifer and Brock Holtzclaw and wife, Betsy; great-grandchildren, Emma Skye, Millie Anne, Hannah, Remington, Teagan, Karley, Wyatt and Judd. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Holtzclaw, Tony Holtzclaw, John Holtzclaw, Tod Holtzclaw, Justin Perryman and Brock Holtzclaw.
Visitation will be at Unity Baptist Church from 5 until 8 p.m. today (Monday).
Memorials may be made in her memory to the Baptist Children's Home in Monroe or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
