Funeral services for Arlee Moore Cosby will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at New Light Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Allen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. today (Friday, Jan. 13, 2012) at Benevolent Funeral Home.
Arlee was born July 7, 1921 to the late Charlie and Emma Moore in Homer. She was one of 11 children born to this union.
Arlee and her family relocated to Minden where she met and married Willie "Snuke" Cosby. Willie had five young children from his first wife, and she had one by her first husband. To this union, two more children were born.
Arlee confessed her faith in the Lord at an early age. She joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Claiborne Parish. Arlee attended school in Claiborne Parish.
After her marriage to Willie, she joined New Light Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death. She was active in the Deaconess Board for more than 50 years, where she served faithfully. She was also a member of Eastern Star.
She will always be remembered for her beautiful suits, with hats, shoes and purse to match, and her cakes and cobblers.
Arlee was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Emma Moore; husband, Willie Cosby; all of her siblings; stepson, Wilbert Cosby; and two grandsons, Elton Cosby, Jr. and Davenski Day.
She leaves to cherish her memories seven children, W. James Cosby of San Angelo, Texas, Emma Allen (Hollis) of Muskegon, Michigan, Mary Frederick (Dewitt) of Houston, Texas, Hazel Cosby (Arthur) of Minden, James F. Cosby, Elton Cosby of Houston and Kenneth Cosby (Carolyn) of Minden; 11 grandchildren, Pam Gilliard, Letitia Ferguson, Dairus Cosby, Jairus Hampton, Kristi Ceasar, Princess Allen, Elton Day, LaRhonda Cosby, Regina LaFear, Brian LaFear and Keith LaFear; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Subscribe to Read!
