SIBLEY —Miranda Fisher led the Minden High Lady Tiders in scoring their 46-44 win over North Webster Wednesday, but it was another Lady Tider that sealed the win.
Metosha Gill drove the length of the court to hit a lay-up as time ran out to give Minden High a first-round win in the Don Stahl Memorial Tournament at Lakeside.
"Metosha did an excellent job," Lady Tider head coach Jacob Brown said. "North Webster had tied it up and after a time out, Metosha did a great job going down and hitting the game winner."
Gill scored four points, while Fisher led Minden with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Antavia Sterling added 15 points and eight rebounds.
"I thought we came out and really shot the ball well," Brown said. "We were very patient on offense tonight and we made better decisions with our passes and shot selection. We just executed our offense much better."
Carmela Specks led North Webster with 13 points.
"We trailed early, but we picked up our defensive intensity in the second quarter," Brown said. "And that allowed us to cut into the lead before the half. We out-scored them 16-10 in the fourth quarter, including an 8-2 run that tied the game before Metosha got the game-winner
