A Minden man who chose to run from officers spent New Year’s Eve in jail on a multitude of charges.

Richard Spencer, 18, of the 700 block of Jackson Street, has been charged with possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana) with intent to distribute, resisting an officer and illegal carrying of a weapon.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said Officer 1st Class Danny Turner was dispatched to Carolina Street around 7 p.m. in regard to reports of a white Grand Am driving at a high rate of speed.

“Officer Turner observed the vehicle going west on Columbia Street,” Cropper said. “Turner activated his over-head lights, but the driver refused to pull over. The driver made a couple of turns and ran a stop sign before the officer was able to finally pull him over.”
