On Tuesday, members of the North Webster Drug Task Force chased down and arrested 18-year-old Jordan Deantre Brantley of the 400 block of Spruce Street, Springhill and 21-year-old Ryan "Rashard" Gladney, of the 1000 block of Coyle Street, Springhill.
Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd said task force members, including Det. Ronald Wedgeworth, Det. Joel Thomas and Lt. Shawn Baker were in on the footchase with him.
"We happened to know where they were," Lynd said. "As soon as they saw us, they broke and ran. We chased them probably two or three hundred yards."
Brantley was arrested on four active distribution warrants – three for CDS Sch. II (crack cocaine), one of which was in a drug-free zone, one for distribution of CDS Sch. III (Hydrocodone) and one for a probation violation.
He is currently in Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on $85,000 bond.
Gladney was arrested on a warrant for one count of distribution of CDS Sch. II (crack cocaine). A hold for probation has been placed on him, as he serves time at BDCC on $10,000 bond.
On the same day, task force members, including Sgt. Sal Gonzalez, took into custody Martha J. Wortham and Phillip Harris.
Wortham, 58, resides in the 1500 block of 7th Street S.E., Springhill.
She was arrested on four active distribution warrants – three for CDS Sch. III (Hydrocodone) and one for CDS Sch. IV (Alprazolam).
The arrest took place at Wortham's residence. She is at BDCC on bonds totaling $100,000.
Harris, 61, of the 1400 block of 7th Street S.E., Springhill, was also arrested at his residence.
He is charged with three counts of distribution of CDS Sch. III (Hydrocodone) – one in the presence of a minor.
Harris is incarcerated at BDCC on bonds totaling $80,000.
Earlier in December, task force members, along with Springhill officers Lane Knighton, William Frazier and H.D. Ainsworth, arrested 45-year-old Ruby Mae Dennis of the 1100 block of 7th Street S.W., Springhill at her residence.
She was taken into custody on three active warrants – two for distribution of CDS Sch. III (Hydrocodone) and one for distribution of a Legend drug.
She was transported to BDCC where she is incarcerated on a total of $90,000 bond.
London M. Brown, 20, of the 200 block of 7th Street S.W., Springhill, was taken into custody at Camelot Apartments.
Officers had an active warrant on Brown for distribution of CDS Sch. I (marijuana).
He is at BDCC with bond set at $10,000.
