The life of a Webster deputy was threatened and a north Webster man has been arrested for reportedly shooting at the law enforcement agent outside a Springhill area residence.
Jesse Christian, 47, is charged with attempted first degree murder of a police officer, aggravated criminal damage to property, resisting by force, public intimidation, disturbing the peace and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to Sheriff Gary Sexton, around 7 p.m. Christmas day Deputy John Byrd responded to a disturbance call on Hortman Street in the Porterville community.
When Byrd arrived at the scene, Christian reportedly came out of the house firing a large caliber gun.
"He fired at least two shots at the deputy before he was taken into custody," Sexton said.
Byrd, who was not injured, tased Christian before the arrest.
