David was born on Dec. 18, 1917, and died on Dec. 15, 2011 in Shreveport.
He was married to the love of his life, his sweetheart, Josephine (Jo) Kennon Williams for 66 years. She predeceased him on Nov. 10, 2009.
He was a lifelong resident of Minden. He graduated in 1941 from University of Texas in pharmacy and continued in his father's footsteps as the owner and pharmacist at his pharmacy and soda fountain – Minden City Drug Store on Main St. until 1997. He was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Jo; his son, Bert David Williams, Jr.; an infant son; his parents, Rollin Williams and Lillian David Williams; his brother, Rollin "Froggie" Williams; and nephew, Eric Williams.
He is survived by his loving children, Barbara Jo Williams Wiley and husband, Judge Jimmy W. Wiley of Winnfield and Thomas Kennon Williams and wife, LaRue Williams of Minden.
He is also survived by beloved grandchildren, Judge Anastasia "Staci" Wiley of Winnfield; Ainsley Williams of Lubbock, Texas, J.W. Wiley, Jr. and wife, Dr. Lauren Thurmon Wiley, of Baton Rouge, Kathryn Wiley of Alexandria, Heather Williams of Princeton and David H. Williams of Minden. His long-time sisters-in-law, Dorothy K. Williams of Hernando, Mississippi and Barbara Braswell and husband, Lloyd Braswell of San Antonio, Texas, also survive him. His numerous nieces and nephews will cherish their warm memories with Uncle David. His dear friends and customers will fondly recall their stories about David and their times at the City Drug Store.
Pallbearers will be J.W. Wiley, Jr., David H. Williams, Rickie Williams, Scott Williams, Ken Braswell, John Alan Braswell, Dr. Eddie Moss, Dr. Anil Veluvolu, Dr. Sathya Jaganmohan, Dr. Richard Campbell, Carleton Prothro, John S. Willis, Thad Andress and Judge Harmon Drew.
