Minden residents can now pay bills on line using credit or debit cards
As a convenience to Minden residents, city utility bills can now be paid with any major credit or debit card.
According to City Clerk Michael Fluhr, "Residents can go online at mindenusa.com, come by city hall or call the utility department with credit card information in order to pay Minden utility bills."
Residents will have to follow the process each month in order to pay by credit card, as that information will not be kept on file.
"Credit card payments are another phase in the upgrade of our city utility billing system," said Mayor Bill Robertson. "This will be an added convenience for the citizens of Minden."
The city has been phasing in upgrades for the past two years.
To pay a utility bill on line, go to www.mindenusa.com and click on the "pay utility bill" icon on the right side of the page. Online bill payment requires intial set up with creation of a personal identification (PIN) number.
Citizens may also come by city hall and bring their credit card in or call city hall at 377-2144 and ask for the utilities department.
The city also reminds residents and businesses that city property taxes for 2011 were mailed from the sheriff's department and must be paid to the sheriff's department. Mortage companies will pay to the sheriff's department as well. Citizens are asked to contact their mortage company with questions.
Minden businesses can look for renewal and instructions for their city occupational licenses to come from RDS Company.
Forms for new businesses may still be picked up at city hall. All monies will be handled through RDS Company of Birmingham, Alabama.
