William Thomas McCary, born on Feb. 9, 1929 in Shreveport, went to be with the Lord April 29, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. William was a resident of Shreveport for 45 years before moving to Sibley in 1973, where he and his wife, Bessie, lived until moving to Colorado in October, 2009.
He served some 40 years in the printing industry. William was a member of Living Word Worship Center in Minden, serving as usher, Sunday school teacher and other duties. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking. Fellowshipping with friends and family was one of his favorite ways to pass the time.
He is preceded in death by son, William Leslie McCary; father, Ernest McCary; mother, Lena May Paxton McCary; sister, Mary McCary Gross; and brother, Leon F. McCary.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bessie Nell Lindsay McCary of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter, Donna K. McCary Bozeman and husband, Larry of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren, Christopher A. Bozeman, Stacey R. Bozeman Pirtle, Eric S. Bozeman, Christina E. Peyton Bourgeois and Owen H. Peyton, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive (off Mansfield Road, Shreveport). Graveside services will be held at Forest Park Cemetery West on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor David Divelbiss of Living Word Worship Center.
William was a loving husband, father, son, uncle and brother-in-law. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
