Judges will be touring the Historical Residential District (HRD) tonight to choose the winners of the HRD Lighting Contest.
In efforts to prepare Minden for its part in the Holiday Trail of Lights residents were asked to "go all out" in their decorating this year.
For their efforts it is possible to win $300 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for the third place prize.
Plus all three will get to pick either a one-night stay in Natchitoches or Jefferson, Texas to add to their prize.
Winners of the contest will have a sign placed in their yard.
HRD is also sponsoring "Snow in Academy Park" Tuesday, December 6 from 3 to 6 p.m. Cost is $3 for 10 minutes to play in the snow or $5 for two children to play.
Then Saturday, December 10, Minden HRD will be hosting the Candlelight Tour of Homes from 4 until 7 p.m.
The $10 tickets can be purchased the day of the event at the Stewart Ferguson building of the Webster Parish Library. Refreshments will also be served at this stop.
