Anderson Benton, Sr. was the second of three children born to the late Ben Benton, Jr. and Lucile Shyne Benton on August 13, 1932.
He attended school in Claiborne Parish. Anderson joined the Springhill C.M.E. Church in Homer at a very young age. In later years, he united with Rocky Mount Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and choir member. Upon moving to the Concord community, he and his family united with St. James Baptist Church where he faithfully served on the deacon board until his health began to fail.
Anderson was united in holy matrimony to Ella Lee Washington on April 10, 1955. To this union, three children were born.
Andy, as he was called by his co-workers, worked for many years as a cement finisher with McInnis Brothers Construction. He enjoyed his work and took great pride in it. You can look around many places in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi to see evidence of work done by him. Andy was truly blessed with a gift from God.
On Sunday, Nov. 20, 2001 the Lord called his soldier home. Anderson is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Anderson Benton, Jr.
He leaves to cherish and celebrate his life a loving and devoted wife, Ella W.
