A Webster Parish Police Jury (WPPJ) special election deciding the Disabled Veterans Homestead Exemption Proposition ended favorably Saturday.
Webster Parish voters said yes, 6,041 (78.18 percent) to 1,686 (21.82 percent).
Louisiana Act 1049, passed on Nov. 2, 2010, potentially doubles the current homestead exemption for an eligible disabled veteran or their spouse. Each parish is required to hold an election for taxpayers to decide if they approve the increased exemption.
