Ticket sold at Minden Truck Stop
The Wednesday, October 5 Lotto winner has still not come forward as of press time. The winning ticket was sold at the Minden Truck Stop at 1629 Hwy 531.
"We sell so many tickets to people traveling through, it is hard to tell if a local customer won," said store manager, Wally Shihadeh.
The prize of $709,160 is large enough that the winner will have to travel to Baton Rouge to claim their money.
Louisiana Lottery Corporation spokeswoman Kimberly Chopin said it is a good idea for winners to call ahead.
"We prepare some paper work for them ahead of time, and that reduces the amount of time they have to spend waiting," Chopin said.
The Lottery Corporation withholds 25 percent for the federal government, and five percent for the state.
Stores that sell winning Lotto or Easy 5 tickets get a bonus equal to one percent of the prize total. They also receive a five percent commission on all lottery sales, and a two percent bonus on all winning tickets they pay.
A winning Powerball ticket gets the selling store $25,000 or one percent of the state's total Powerball sales, whichever is larger.
